Job Summary

Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC) is an inclusive and dedicated organisation delivering excellent care to military personnel.

This job share role offers 18.75 hours per week as part of the Colchester Group Practice based at Merville Barracks, Colchester and The Military Correctional Training Centre (MCTC). Cover may be required at other facilities within the Colchester Combined Practice (Wattisham & Woodbridge) as business needs dictate.

Work pattern: a two‑week rotation – Week 1: Thu/Fri all day, Wed morning; Week 2: Thu/Fri all day, Wed afternoon.

Job Responsibilities
  • Maintain written and electronic records in line with NMC Standards, Defence Medical Services policy and local guidelines.
  • Assess patients with stable health needs, develop individual care plans and evaluate outcomes.
  • Triage and treat minor injuries/illnesses according to evidence‑based practice, PGDs and agreed policies.
  • Provide technical nursing treatments such as venepuncture, ECGs, eye/ear care, wound management, suture removal and assist with minor surgery.
  • Administer immunisations and monitor medications in accordance with SGPL, DGAMS, DPHC policy and legislation.

  • Professional or clinical knowledge acquired through training to degree/diploma level.
  • UK professional registration – Nursing and Midwifery Council membership required.
  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Additional Information

Secure a security check and provide evidence of Hepatitis B immunity or serology. Successful candidates must meet security requirements before appointment.

Applicants will undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check. The role does not require relocation, and sponsorship for a skilled worker visa is not offered.
