Qualifications

Responsibilities

About the role:

The Pharmacy team at Pulse is seeking a dedicated and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Whiston. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, providing high-quality pharmacy services to our patients.

Duties and Responsibilities:

You will provide a high-quality, efficient, and patient-focused dispensing service to all patients. You will act as a senior pharmacy technician in the dispensary, supervising day-to-day dispensing activities and managing staff. You will perform final accuracy checks of dispensed prescriptions as an Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT). You will train and supervise pre-registration trainee pharmacy technicians and other staff in the dispensary. You will oversee stock control, including daily orders, returns, and expired stock management. You will participate in the dispensing of clinical trials in accordance with departmental SOPs. You will counsel patients on the safe and effective use of their medications, including potential side effects. You will participate in regular audits, technician team meetings, and individual staff development reviews. You will support ward-based clinical pharmacy services, including medicines reconciliation and discharge counselling.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience/Knowledge:
    • NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent.
    • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a pharmacy technician.
    • Previous experience in a hospital or community pharmacy setting.
  • Skills/Abilities:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals.
    • Good organizational skills to manage workload and meet deadlines.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
