Role Overview

Transmit information to colleagues, including less experienced staff and staff undergoing training, in order to ensure an understanding of all techniques employed and the highly complex equipment used in the analysis of pathological samples. Analyse samples and other data involving routine histology to pursue service needs and to benefit the patient.

Responsibilities
  • Transmit information to colleagues about techniques and equipment used in pathological sample analysis.
  • Analyse samples and data involving routine histology for patient benefit.
  • Work within a busy department, part of a merged histology facility with a workload of approximately 55,000 histology and 6,000 NG cases annually.
  • Perform a wide range of immunohistochemistry techniques in a state‑of‑the‑art, UKAS‑accredited laboratory.
Qualifications
  • HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist with post‑registration experience.
  • Proven experience in all aspects of routine histology.
  • Experience and knowledge of routine histological techniques.
  • Ability to undertake a practical test as part of the interview process.
Desirable
  • Experience in specimen tissue transfer.
  • BSc BMS or equivalent qualification.
  • Specialist portfolio started or training for a specialist portfolio will be provided.

Additional Information

This is a full‑time post (37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday). All new appointments, with the exception of executive positions, are subject to a 6‑month probationary period. The Trust may close any vacancy prior to the advertised closing date.
