An exciting short term contract or secondment opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioner based at West Midlands Rehabilitation Centre (WMRC). The post is to cover maternity leave until 31.03.27. Services at WMRC include Specialist Clinics, Prosthetics, Orthotics, Access to Communications Technology, Birmingham Wheelchair Services and Posture & Mobility.

This post is within Specialist Clinics - this is a group of 7 highly specialist regional outpatient services - Spasticity Clinic, Multiple Sclerosis Clinic, Neuromuscular Clinic, Non-Traumatic Spinal Injury Clinic, Young Adults Clinic, Complex Neuro Rehab and Intrathecal Baclofen. You will work in a multidisciplinary team of Consultants in Rehabilitation Medicine, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Nurses, Speech & Language Therapists, Counsellor and Psychologist.

Main duties of the job

Clinical work with patients - in MDT clinics, unidisciplinary clinics and independently with your own caseload.

Administration - admin tasks to support clinicians and patients. This includes onwards referrals.

Equipment - to include ordering, stock take, support with servicing.

Provide information - to patients and clinicians.

Communication - with patients, carers, family, staff and outside agencies. This requires highly developed communication skills to communicate where there are barriers to communication.

Qualifications/ Training
