Job Summary

To provide an efficient and effective clerical support service to nursing and medical staff within our Acute Assessment Unit. The post holder will promote and encourage a caring and sympathetic environment for patients, relatives and staff ensuring that high standards of service are continually maintained. The nature of duties undertaken within this post dictates that strict confidentiality is maintained at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide efficient clerical support to nursing and medical staff within the Acute Assessment Unit.
  • Promote and encourage a caring and sympathetic environment for patients, relatives and staff.
  • Maintain high standards of service and ensure confidentiality at all times.
  • Negotiate effectively with different disciplines and all grades of staff.
  • Manage own time and priorities effectively.
  • Work within a team and on own initiative.
  • Provide expert professional advice to patients, carers and colleagues.
  • Ensure welfare of patients by compliance with safeguarding procedures and Trust policies.
Key Skills & Experience
  • IT proficient.
  • Experience in a range of settings including elderly care in an acute setting (Band 6/7).
  • Evidence of overseeing a ward/team on a regular basis.
  • Experience of implementing a change in practice.
  • Recent experience of working in a busy, demanding role, in an acute clinical setting.
  • Highly skilled in the physical assessment and treatment of patients presenting with common pathologies including dementia and falls.
  • Awareness of professional issues and developments.

All salaries are inclusive of standard allowances e.g. High Cost Area for staff on Agenda for Change contracts.
