Job description
Overview

A full time Band 3 Support Time and Recovery Worker is required to join the Acute Therapy Service (ATS) based at Bridge House in Blackburn. The ATS provides a psychologically led service that offers an alternative to inpatient admissions and supports early discharge from inpatient units. The service aims to provide brief structured psychological input, practical, occupational and social support, and respite in a safe environment. The post holder will have experience of working in Mental Health Services and duties include direct involvement with service users, facilitating a therapeutic responsive service, and co-facilitating groups. Regular management and clinical supervision are provided, with opportunities to develop clinical and professional practice in line with service user needs and the organisations values. Working pattern: 37.5 hours per week.

Responsibilities
  • Direct involvement with service users; help to provide and facilitate a therapeutic responsive service for adults with mental health difficulties.
  • Support service users to implement coping strategies learned in the ATS service.
  • Co-facilitate and deliver groups.
  • Assist in providing a DBT led therapeutic environment that facilitates early discharge from an acute psychiatric ward or provides an alternative to hospital admission.
  • Work creatively within the team to meet the demands and needs of the service and service users.
  • Work without direct supervision on completion of initial induction; receive support from management, clinical and staff team.
  • Facilitate and maintain effective liaison with statutory and non-statutory agencies in the community and other appropriate agencies involved in the service users care.
  • Maintain effective communication within and outside the clinical team to ensure service user needs are met.
  • Communicate with service users to maximise involvement and understanding of their condition, care and treatment, including providing information and overcoming barriers in an empathic and reassuring manner.
  • Participate in both clinical and managerial supervision.
  • Provide verbal and written feedback to colleagues regarding service user's presentation.
  • Ensure that changes to the unit environment including accidents, incidents and complaints are relayed to senior staff and reported and documented according to Trust policy.
  • All actions must be reported in writing on electronic notes; untoward incidents discussed with the team leader and staff.
  • Assess and implement risk management measures within the scope of responsibility.
  • Be aware of factors affecting own health and safety at work and that of others.
Qualifications/Experience
  • Experience of working in Mental Health Services.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and to communicate effectively with service users, carers and colleagues.
