An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Medical Secretary in Respiratory Medicine at Good Hope Hospital.
The post holder will be a key member of the team and is expected to provide an empathic and sensitive point of contact for patients/relatives and carers, have a confident and calm manner with good communication skills. The post holder will be expected to appropriately manage confidential, complex and sensitive information under the direction of the Medical Secretary Supervisor.
You will manage consultants and ILD nurses, book appointments, manage diaries, have particular responsibility for the audio typing of clinic letters and to support your colleagues and clinicians during times of annual leave and sickness.

To touch type from audio and/or copy type from written documentation, prepare letters, emails, reports and minutes of meetings. To exercise initiative and judgement based on acquired knowledge and experience when dealing with enquiries. Receiving and dealing with telephone enquiries as appropriate. To maintain diaries as required. Input and look up data on Trust IT systems in accordance with Trust policy. To ensure that the post is opened daily and dealt with accordingly. Book, reschedule and cancel appointments for patients, cancel clinic as necessary on the instruction of the clinician.
