Job summary

A leading NHS Trust in Romford is seeking a highly motivated Band 3 Apprentice Ward Clerk to provide administrative support within the Acute Medicine division. The role requires full flexibility to work across sites and to support nursing and medical staff. Applicants must be 18 or older, have been UK residents for the past 3 years, and complete the Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner apprenticeship. This position requires a commitment to high standards of customer care and confidentiality.

Job description
Overview

The Acute Medicine division is seeking a Band 3 Apprentice Ward Clerk highly motivated to work within the nursing and medical team. This post covers 7 days a week, working 07.30‑20.00 on a rota basis and requires full flexibility to support different teams within Acute Medicine and to cross‑site work between KGH and QH.

Responsibilities
  • Provide all aspects of administrative support in the Acute Medicine division, delivering a professional, comprehensive and efficient service to patients and department members.
  • Demonstrate high levels of customer care and act as an ambassador for customer care within the Trust.
  • Promote and encourage a caring and sympathetic environment for patients, relatives and staff, maintaining high standards of service and strict confidentiality.
  • Support nursing and medical staff in MRU and SDEC and support cross‑site working between KGH and Queen’s Hospital.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Be 18 years old or over.
  • Have the right to work in the UK with a visa covering the duration of the apprenticeship.
  • Have been permanently resident in the UK for the past 3 years.
  • Must complete the Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner apprenticeship. Candidates who already hold a Level 2 or higher customer‑service qualification are not eligible.
  • Will be subject to a probationary period.
