What the job involves

• Provide hands‑on physical and emotional care to patients under the guidance of registered nurses or senior staff
• Help patients with washing, bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene and toileting
• Serve meals, help patients to eat and monitor fluid intake
• Help patients move safely, using mobility aids and equipment such as hoists
• Take and record temperature, pulse, respiration, weight and blood pressure as instructed
• Assist with basic clinical tasks such as changing bed linen, restocking supplies, collecting urine or stool samples and preparing treatment rooms
• Update patient notes, report changes in a patient's condition to nurses and reassure families

Qualifications

• At least six months' experience as a Healthcare Assistant at the NHS within the last three years
