Job summary

Candour is seeking an experienced Backend Systems Developer to design, develop and optimize backend integrations that connect customer-facing apps with warehouse, ERP and finance systems.

You will build scalable middleware, REST APIs and event-driven flows, handling high-volume data while ensuring reliability and security. Collaboration with product and operations teams is essential in delivering robust, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of backend software development experience.
• Experience integrating systems with ERP/warehouse/finance platforms.
• Strong SQL with database design and performance optimisation.
• Knowledge of SOLID, Clean Architecture and DDD principles.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, automated testing and Git workflows.
• Hands-on with containerised apps (Docker).
• Experience with message queues and event-driven architectures.
• Cloud exposure (AWS or similar) and container orchestration knowledge.
• Exposure to GraphQL and AI-assisted development tools.
• Secure development and data protection practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain backend integrations between digital platforms and core business systems, including warehouse, ERP and finance solutions.
• Build scalable middleware to support order processing, inventory synchronisation and real-time data exchange.
• Create and maintain REST APIs and event-driven integrations across multiple systems.
• Implement queue-based processing to support high-volume asynchronous workloads.
• Improve system resilience through retry mechanisms, circuit breakers and fault-tolerant design.
• Work closely with engineers, product teams and operational stakeholders to deliver high-quality technical solutions.
• Contribute to engineering standards and best practice through code reviews, mentoring and knowledge sharing.
• Develop modern, cloud-ready services using clean, maintainable and scalable architecture.
• Monitor system performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, scalability and efficiency.
• 4+ years’ commercial experience in backend software development using a strongly typed programming language.
• Experience integrating business-critical systems with ERP, warehouse management or finance platforms.
• Strong SQL skills, including database design and performance optimisation.
• Good understanding of software architecture principles, including SOLID, Clean Architecture and Domain-Driven Design.
• Experience with modern development practices including CI/CD, automated testing and Git.
• Hands‑on experience with Docker and containerised applications.
• Experience working with message queues and event‑driven architectures.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience working with AWS or another cloud platform.
• Knowledge of Kubernetes or container orchestration.
• Exposure to GraphQL.
• Experience using AI‑assisted development tools.
• Understanding of secure software development and data protection best practices.
• Previous experience working within high‑transaction, high‑availability or fast‑paced environments.
