Backend Software Engineer (TypeScript AI) London / WFH to £130k

Are you a skilled, backend focussed Software Engineer with experience of integrating AI into business workflows and products?

You could be progressing your career in a senior, hands-on Backend Software Engineer at a scaling FinTech, the core product is a private equities / alternative investment management platform.

As a Backend Software Engineer you will be responsible for designing and building the platform architecture that underpins how data is accessed, processed and served across applications. This will involve working with both structured and unstructured data, developing data integration solutions covering normalisation and storage, and creating and maintaining APIs and pipelines that deliver intelligent, AI powered data into applications.

You'll play a key role in evolving the platform's AI infrastructure, evaluating and integrating modern AI frameworks, tools and technologies. This will include working with LLMs, vector databases and agent testing frameworks, as well as developing observability and monitoring capabilities to provide visibility into AI powered workflows, understand system and agent performance and identify potential issues.

You'll also ensure the platform meets appropriate standards for security, reliability and data governance. Working closely with stakeholders, you'll lead requirements gathering and discovery for new platform initiatives, translating business needs into effective technical solutions.

This is a highly visible role with lots of ownership and complex, interesting work.

Location / WFH:

You'll join colleagues in the London office three days a week with flexibility to work from home the other two days.

About you:

• You have advanced TypeScript backend development experience
• You have experience of integrating AI capabilities into software products or business workflows.
• You have experience of building and maintaining APIs and data pipelines
• You have a good understanding of LLMs, modern AI frameworks and AI native tooling
• You have experience of working with structured and unstructured data
• You have a strong understanding of observability, monitoring and system reliability
• You have experience working with cloud infrastructure, ideally Azure but AWS also fine
• You're collaborative with great communication skills
