Job summary

Methods is a £100M+ IT Services Consultancy in the UK seeking Backend Developers to build secure, scalable digital services used by millions. You’ll design and implement backend APIs with TypeScript, leverage serverless architectures on AWS, and work in a multidisciplinary team across government and private sector clients.

You will contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and production support while upholding security and performance standards within an agile delivery environment.

We are looking for talented Backend Developers to join a digital delivery team working on services that make a real difference to people across the UK.

You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team of developers, designers, product managers, delivery professionals and technical specialists to build, improve and maintain secure, scalable and reliable digital services used by millions of people.

You will be responsible for designing and developing backend services and APIs, working with cloud-based technologies and serverless architectures to deliver robust and maintainable solutions.

Backend Development

• Event-driven architectures and asynchronous processing
• API-based integrations and service-to-service communication
• Managing application configuration, environments and deployments within AWS
• Cloud security and appropriate access-control principles
• Monitoring, logging and troubleshooting cloud-based applications
• Designing solutions for reliability, scalability and cost efficiency

Desirable technical skills

• Experience with additional AWS services such as API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, SQS, SNS, EventBridge, CloudWatch and IAM
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code, particularly AWS CDK, CloudFormation or Terraform
• Experience with Node.js and the wider TypeScript ecosystem
• Experience designing and developing RESTful or GraphQL APIs
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes
• Experience with containerisation and Docker
• Experience with event-driven architecture and messaging systems
• Familiarity with security best practices for cloud-based applications
• Experience with application monitoring, observability, logging and performance optimisation
