Job description

The Back of House Assistant Manager ensures the smooth and efficient running of all Back of House operations, maintaining exceptional cleanliness and safety standards across the Club and Hotel. Reporting to the Head of Back of House, this role provides leadership, guidance, and daily operational support to the BOH teams.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee day-to-day Back of House operations, ensuring high standards and full Health & Safety compliance.
  • Manage dish room functions, loading bay cleaning, and overall kitchen utility operations.
  • Maintain exceptional cleanliness across kitchens, staff areas, canteen, changing rooms, bathrooms, and refuse areas.
  • Oversee linen flow and daily requirements in collaboration with outlet managers.
  • Lead and support the Employee Restaurant operation, ensuring consistent quality and quantity.
  • Manage contract labour effectively to meet business needs.
  • Ensure compliance with Food Safety & Hygiene standards, aiming for a 5 rating.
  • Monitor and report equipment faults; ensure proper use and cleaning of machinery and service ware.
  • Prepare weekly orders for chemicals and cleaning materials.
  • Maintain inventory controls (chinaware/silverware) with Health & Safety leadership.
  • Train kitchen porters in sanitation, equipment handling, and chemical safety.
  • Support cost control and budget performance; understand the department's impact on Club/Hotel financial goals.
  • Build a positive, collaborative team culture through strong communication and leadership.
  • Attend meetings and act as a role model for professional behaviour.
  • Work flexibly according to business needs and demonstrate creativity, innovation, and attention to detail.
