Job summary

VirtueTech Recruitment Group is supporting a London-based Energy Trading Firm seeking a Software Engineer (.NET/C#) to build scalable data-intensive platforms.

You will develop and enhance real-time market data systems, contribute across the full software lifecycle, and work in a cloud-first environment with event-driven architecture. Hybrid working, three days in the office, is offered in Central London.

Qualifications

• C#/.NET and Angular development experience.
• Experience designing and building event-driven distributed systems.
• Proven ability to develop high-performance applications processing real-time data.
• Strong SQL skills with SQL Server, PostgreSQL or Oracle.
• Experience with Docker, Kafka, Kubernetes or similar.
• Solid software engineering practices, testing and CI/CD.

Job description

A leading Energy Trading Firm in London is seeking a C# Software Engineer for scalable data-intensive platforms.

You'll be responsible for developing and enhancing systems that handle large volumes of real-time market and trading data, supporting critical processes across a global trading environment.

The .NET role:

As a Software Developer (.NET / C#), you'll join a high-performing engineering team responsible for developing modern applications that support a fast-paced, data-rich environment. Working on distributed systems and real-time data platforms, you'll build scalable software capable of processing large volumes of data while maintaining exceptional performance, reliability and resilience.

Working closely with software engineers, solution architects and business stakeholders, you'll contribute throughout the full software development lifecycle, delivering high-quality solutions using modern engineering practices. This is an opportunity to work on technically challenging systems, influence platform improvements and help shape the future of a cloud-first engineering environment built around event-driven architecture and high-performance data processing.

Skills:

• Strong commercial experience developing applications using C#/.NET and Angular.
• Experience designing and building event driven, distributed systems.
• Proven experience developing high-performance applications that process large volumes of real-time or business-critical data.
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server, PostgreSQL or Oracle, with experience optimising data-intensive applications.
• Experience with Docker, Kafka, Kubernetes, or similar modern distributed technologies.
• Strong understanding of software engineering principles, testing, and modern development practices.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work closely with engineers, architects and business stakeholders.
