A leading healthcare provider in Southampton is offering an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Therapist to join their Hyperacute Rehabilitation Pathway team. This role involves advanced clinical responsibilities in an acute setting with a focus on neuro-rehabilitation. Candidates should have a Masters in Occupational Therapy and proven leadership skills. The position offers a salary range of £47,810 to £54,710 per year, pro rata. Flexible working hours are also required.

We have received funding via NHSE to develop and pilot a high‑intensity, specialised MDT Hyper Acute Rehab pathway at University Hospital Southampton (UHS). The pathway is led by a Rehabilitation consultant and an AHP Lead for patients with complex rehabilitation needs following major trauma or illness.
As part of this project, this role will involve working within a full AHP team on a 12‑month secondment at UHS. Posts can be full‑time or part‑time and are open to qualified professionals with robust B6 or B7 postgraduate knowledge and experience in acute neuro‑rehabilitation.
The team will be led by an 8a Clinical Specialist and you, as a B7, will be expected to support them and deputise in their absence.
Full patient care across a five‑day service may include bank holidays, on a roster basis. Flexibility in working hours is required.

Provide advanced clinical skills in acute neuro‑rehabilitation and deliver high‑intensity, specialised hyper‑acute rehabilitation (HAR) under the direction of a Rehabilitation Medicine consultant. Work closely with the dedicated MDT to support a moderate number of appropriate UHS patients.
Contribute to the project by investigating the impact of acute intervention on the patient journey, including outcomes and length of hospital stay.
Support the B8a Clinical Specialist AHP Lead and deputise in their absence. Provide audit, research and service development input.
