Job description

Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust (SCFT) are seeking to appoint a dynamic and motivated individual with excellent communication and organisational skills to join the Paediatric Physiotherapy team based at Crawley Child Development Centre. The successful candidate will also be expected to travel to Hilltop Child Development Centre in Horsham to provide Physiotherapy intervention, on a regular basis. The caseload will primarily consist of children with a range of paediatric neurodevelopmental and neurological conditions from 0-19 years. But you will also be expected to hold a small caseload of children with Musculo-skeletal conditions from 0-16.

The post holder should ideally have experience in the assessment and treatment of children and young people with neurodevelopmental, orthopaedic and neurological conditions, as well as some basic knowledge of musculo-skeletal conditions..

The post is weekday working and with no requirement to work weekends. We are a friendly and supportive team who encourage service development/ improvement plans as well as ensuring you have protected time for continuing professional development.

Main duties of the job

The Paediatric Physiotherapy service aim to provide expert assessment, treatment and advice to children and young people between 0 and 19 years of age. We work to educate and support families, carers and other healthcare professionals including school and early years settings staff. Support will also be given, when necessary, to enable the seamless transition of young people into adult services.

You will be an effective team player who is flexible, enthusiastic and focused on the delivery of excellent quality patient care to the young people in the locality and its surrounding area. You will be required to support students, assistants and technical instructors as part of your role. Motivation to assist and support service development is essential. Excellent time management skills are required in order to manage this busy and fast-paced caseload. Service delivery is primarily based at Worthing Child Development Centre, but there will also be a need to deliver care in patients' homes, schools and the wider community. You will need to be a car owner and driver, with full UK license. You will need to have current HCPC registration.

We offer regular in-service training, peer supervision and clinical support. There are dedicated paediatric special interest groups and the Paediatric Physiotherapy service is supported by a Countywide Professional Lead.

Job responsibilities

Some of the Key responsibilities include:

To represent the team and patients at multi‑disciplinary team meetings and case conferences in order to ensure the delivery of a co‑ordinated multi‑disciplinary service and to integrate therapy intervention into the treatment programme. This will include discussion of patient care, patient progress and involvement in discharge planning and support seamless transition into adult services when required.

To give advice and training on intervention programmes, including advice to carers, other professionals and agencies.

To raise any clinical concerns about patients with line manager/specialist physiotherapists in a timely manner and be willing to seek support from senior staff

To formulate and deliver individual treatment programmes based on a sound knowledge of evidence based practice and treatment options using clinical assessment, reasoning skills and highly specialised knowledge of intervention techniques

To support the Team Leader, Clinical Lead and other Highly Specialist / Specialist therapists as required.

To work with the patients, carers and colleagues to identify goals as part of intervention

To assume delegated tasks as requested by line manager, including participation in working groups, policy development groups.

To contribute to the development and delivery of training to other multidisciplinary team members
