Job summary

Bombardier's Biggin Hill Service Centre in London is seeking a B1 Licensed Aircraft Engineer to join the base and line maintenance team. You will verify crew qualifications, oversee tasks, and ensure airworthiness in line with Bombardier procedures.

The role requires an EASA Part 66 B1/B2/C license, relevant maintenance experience, and the ability to read engineering drawings. You will work with the crew, coordinate workload, and support on-site maintenance campaigns.

Qualifications

  • EASA Part 66 B1/B2/C license required.
  • Appendix I to Part-66 knowledge required.
  • Part-M/Part-145 knowledge required.
  • At least 6 months of relevant aircraft or component maintenance experience in any 2-year period.
  • Experience with Bombardier or other business jet aircraft preferred.
  • Knowledge of human factors and limitations.
  • Current on all training requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Experience with EWIS and CDCCL when relevant.
  • Experience on business jet aircraft.
  • Ability to use standard tools and ground support equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Identify constraints and pro-actively prepare maintenance projects (e.g. organizing workstations).
  • Verify if Mechanics and B1/B2 Support Staff are qualified to perform the task(s).
  • Ensure Cat C tasks are delegated appropriately.
  • Avoid undertaking tasks conflicting with project management responsibilities.
  • Prioritize work and coordinate daily work plan to the crew.
  • Ensure tasks comply with Bombardier's Maintenance Organization Procedures.
  • Ensure all maintenance tasks are airworthy; report deferrals to the operator when not completed.
  • Provide time estimates and monitor man-hours; coordinate overtime with the Project Manager.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices within the crew.
  • Ensure proper handovers at shift end and between shifts.
  • Release aircraft by signing the Certificate of Release to Service after base maintenance.

Job description

Bombardier's Business Aircraft London Service Centre in Biggin Hill is part of an award-winning network and is the flagship of Bombardier's European operation. This Base and Line Maintenance Centre is the fastest-growing Service Centre in Europe and the largest Business Aircraft OEM in the UK. The facility has the capabilities to perform an array of maintenance checks, modifications and upgrades all from this site. Only 14 miles from London, Bombardier's Biggin Hill Service Centre is ideally located to support operators in the UK region and beyond.

What are your contributions to the team?
  • Identify constraints and pro-actively prepare maintenance projects (e.g. organizing workstations)
  • Verify if Mechanics and B1/B2 Support Staff assigned('crew') are qualified to perform the task(s)
  • Ensure Cat C tasks are delegated to other Cat C or senior B1/B2 when not available - delegating duties does not relieve the Cat C of the overall responsibility for the crew
  • Understand that when also carrying out maintenance tasks, such tasks should not be undertaken when incompatible with the project-management responsibilities
  • Prioritize work, and coordinate/assign daily work plan to the crew
  • Ensure performed tasks are in accordance with Bombardiers Maintenance Organization Procedures
  • Ensure that all required maintenance tasks are carried out, that all work accomplished is airworthy and, where not completed, that deferrals will be reported to the operator
  • Provide time estimates and monitor efficiency to ensure that scheduled man-hours are not exceeded, and coordinate overtime requirements with the Project Manager
  • Ensure crew maintains good housekeeping practices
  • Ensure all task-handovers are done at the end of the shift, as well as the shift-handover
  • Release aircraft and authorized, by signing the Certificate of Release to Service after base maintenance
How to thrive in this role?
  • You have an EASA Part 66 Aircraft Maintenance License: B1 / B2 and C
  • You have basic knowledge requirements of Appendix I to Part-66
  • You have basic knowledge of Part-M, Part-145 and any other relevant regulations
  • You have at least 6 months of relevant aircraft or component maintenance experience in any consecutive 2-year period
  • You have experience working with our aircrafts, but will consider other Business Aircraft makes as well
  • You have knowledge on, and practicing of, human factors, human performance and limitations
  • You have knowledge on EWIS and CDCCL when relevant
  • You have experience working during last two years on at least one aircraft type for each license (sub)category
  • You are current on all training requirements (recurrent/continuation training)
  • You have the ability to interpret and work with engineering drawings
  • You have the ability to effectively communicate in both written and verbal form on individual task and / or aircraft status
  • You have the ability to use standard tools, special tools and operate ground support equipment
  • You have the ability to work in accordance with the maintenance data and to notify the function responsible of defects or mistakes requiring rectification to re-establish required maintenance standards
  • You have the ability to use information systems (computer skills)
  • You have experience on business jet aircraft
