Job summary

Reed Talent Solutions is recruiting a Data Engineer in Bedford to design, build and optimise ETL pipelines and data solutions across Azure data services. You will work closely with data consumers to deliver scalable, secure data workflows and support reporting via Power BI.

The role emphasizes governance, data quality, and collaboration in a regulated environment. Candidates should have strong SQL skills, hands-on Azure experience, and a good grasp of modern data architectures.

Qualifications

• Experience in data engineering, including ETL design and implementation.
• Proficiency in SQL for data manipulation and querying.
• Hands-on experience with Azure data services (Synapse, Data Lake, Data Factory).
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication and collaboration skills.
• Familiarity with data governance and quality frameworks.
• Experience in financial services or similar regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain ETL processes to extract, transform and load data from multiple sources.
• Optimise data pipelines using orchestration tools for smooth data flow.
• Implement monitoring and recovery to maintain data integrity.
• Build and manage data solutions on Azure (Data Lake, Synapse, Data Factory).
• Ensure systems are scalable, reliable and high-performing.
• Partner with data consumers to deliver solutions that meet business needs.
• Share knowledge and promote best practices within the team.
• Apply governance standards and maintain data quality and security.
• Document processes and enforce best practices.
• Understand modern data architecture principles (e.g., Data Lakes, medallion architecture).
• Support reporting and analytics, including integration with Power BI.
