The role
  • To plan and deliver engaging, high‑quality lessons to pupils in Years 1 and/or 2, ensuring that the National Curriculum is met and children are motivated and make excellent progress.
  • To assess, monitor, record and report on pupils' learning and progress, adapting teaching as needed to meet all learners' needs (including those with additional or special educational needs).
  • To work collaboratively as part of the KS1/early years phase team, sharing planning, resources and best practice.
  • To maintain high expectations for behaviour, motivation and personal development of pupils; to provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating classroom environment.
  • To liaise with parents/carers, support staff, other professionals and the Senior Leadership Team to support the all‑round development of the children.
  • To contribute to the wider school life (e.g., extra‑curricular activities, school events).
  • To uphold the school's safeguarding policies and ensure the welfare of all children at all times.
We are looking for someone who
  • Is a qualified teacher (QTS) with recent experience (or a strong trainee/ECT) in KS1.
  • Has sound knowledge of the National Curriculum and effective pedagogy for early years / Key Stage 1.
  • Is passionate about primary education and committed to child‑centred learning.
  • Can differentiate lessons to meet a wide range of abilities and needs, including SEND and higher‑attaining pupils.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills - able to build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.
  • Is enthusiastic, resilient, organized and works well as part of a team.
  • Is committed to continuing professional development and reflective practice.
