Job summary

A technology consultancy is seeking an experienced AWS DevOps Engineer for a fully remote role on a fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and maintaining secure AWS infrastructure, managing Infrastructure as Code, and deploying containerised applications. Candidates must hold active SC clearance and have strong skills in Terraform, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines. This position involves working on mission-critical projects within the UK Central Government.

Qualifications

We are currently seeking an experienced AWS DevOps Engineer to join our growing team on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. This is a fully remote UK‑based role, working on mission‑critical Central Government projects.

• Active SC Clearance (mandatory)
• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
• Containerisation (Docker)
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins)
• Strong understanding of DevSecOps principles and secure cloud architecture
• Experience working in Agile, multi‑disciplinary teams
• Ability to take ownership of technical solutions and contribute to engineering best practice

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable AWS cloud infrastructure
• Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
• Deploy and manage containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS)
• Implement and optimise CI/CD pipelines
• Ensure compliance with Government security standards and best practices
• Collaborate with architects, developers, and security teams
• Contribute to technical decision‑making and continuous improvement
• Experience working to Government Digital Service (GDS) standards
• Knowledge of logging/monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
• Experience with cost optimisation in AWS environments
• AWS Certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer)
