Technology Consulting | London, Leeds, Manchester or Newcastle
Hybrid Working (3 Days Onsite) | Active SC Clearance Required
Shape the Future of Data, AI and Cloud Transformation

Are you passionate about building modern data platforms and helping organisations unlock the value of data and AI?

We’re looking for an experienced AWS Data Platform Architect to join a growing technology consulting practice delivering complex transformation programmes across the public sector and highly regulated industries. This is a senior consulting role where you’ll combine architecture leadership with hands‑on technical expertise, helping clients design, modernise and scale data and AI platforms that deliver meaningful business outcomes.

Working closely with senior stakeholders, engineering teams and business leaders, you’ll play a key role in shaping data strategies, modern cloud architectures and next‑generation AI capabilities.

The Role

As an AWS Data Platform Architect, you will lead the design and delivery of cloud‑native data, analytics and AI platforms, helping organisations maximise the value of their data assets while ensuring security, scalability and long‑term sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and architect scalable AWS-based data and analytics platforms across the full data lifecycle.
  • Define target‑state data architectures, platform strategies and technical roadmaps aligned to business objectives.
  • Lead the design and implementation of batch and real‑time data processing solutions built on modern cloud‑native architectures.
  • Integrate machine learning, Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs) and emerging AI capabilities into enterprise platforms.
  • Advise clients on data strategy, platform architecture, governance, security and AI adoption.
  • Drive best practices across data engineering, analytics, AI engineering and platform operations.
  • Lead delivery teams and provide architectural guidance across complex transformation programmes.
  • Implement robust data governance, security and compliance frameworks within highly regulated environments.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
  • Mentor architects, engineers and technical teams, helping to develop organisational capability and technical excellence.
  • Support the adoption of MLOps, AIOps and modern cloud operating models to improve delivery and operational effectiveness.
  • 8+ years' experience in data, analytics and AI platform architecture, design and delivery.
  • Deep expertise in AWS cloud‑native data and analytics services.
  • Experience designing scalable platform architectures supporting both batch and real‑time streaming workloads.
  • Strong understanding of microservices and API‑driven architectures.
  • Experience implementing machine learning, Generative AI, foundation models and agentic AI approaches within enterprise environments.
  • Experience designing secure, governed and compliant data platforms, particularly within public sector or regulated environments.
  • Proven track record leading complex programmes, managing multiple workstreams and acting as a senior escalation point.
  • Ability to engage, influence and advise senior stakeholders across both technical and business functions.
  • Strong understanding of cloud‑centric solution architecture, the end‑to‑end data lifecycle, and MLOps/AIOps practices.
  • Experience mentoring engineers, architects and client teams.
  • Active SC Clearance.

Experience with any of the following would be highly beneficial:

  • Public sector, government, healthcare or other regulated industry experience.
  • Modern data warehouse and lakehouse platforms such as Amazon Redshift, Snowflake, Databricks, Google BigQuery or Azure Synapse.
  • Strong SQL expertise and proficiency in Python or Java.
  • Infrastructure as Code technologies including Terraform and CloudFormation.
  • MLOps frameworks and AI platform engineering.
  • CI/CD tooling and modern engineering practices.
  • Cloud architecture certifications with a data, analytics or AI specialism.
  • Certifications within Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift or similar platforms.
  • Experience using AI‑assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code or equivalent.
Security Clearance Requirements

Due to the nature of the projects and client environments, candidates must hold active SC Clearance.

Applicants should also meet the eligibility requirements associated with UK security‑cleared roles, including having been resident in the UK for the previous five years and not having spent more than six consecutive months outside the UK during that period.

Working Model

This role follows a flexible hybrid working model, requiring approximately three days per week onsite at client locations or one of the offices in London, Leeds, Manchester or Newcastle.

Interview Process

1. Technical Interview; 2. Case Study Interview

Why Apply?

This is an opportunity to work at the forefront of Data, Cloud and AI transformation, helping major organisations design and implement modern platforms that enable better decision‑making, innovation and business performance.

  • Competitive salary between £100,000 and £110,000 depending on experience and level.
  • Annual bonus.
  • Pension contribution.
  • Private medical insurance.
