Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Application Developer – AWS Cloud Full Stack to join our dynamic IBM team. The ideal candidate will bring proven expertise in designing, developing, and maintaining cloud‑native applications on AWS, with hands‑on experience delivering secure and scalable solutions for clients in the public sector and defence industries.
Assessment Center
Assessment Centre Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an Assessment Centre hosted onsite at IBM Hursley on 3 December 2025.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable and secure cloud applications on AWS, tailored to the needs of public sector and defence clients.
- Develop full‑stack applications using modern front‑end frameworks (React, Angular, Vue.js) and backend technologies (Node.js, Java, Python, or similar).
- Architect, implement, and optimize cloud‑native solutions leveraging AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, ECS, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, and CloudFormation.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional IBM teams and client stakeholders to translate complex public sector and defence requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Ensure adherence to best practices in DevOps, CI/CD, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Apply stringent security, compliance, and governance standards in line with defence and government regulations.
- Optimize application performance, security, and reliability following industry and IBM best practices.
- Mentor developers and provide technical leadership in AWS and full‑stack development, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence.
- Stay current with emerging AWS technologies, full‑stack frameworks, and cloud architecture trends relevant to public sector and defence applications.
Qualifications
- Experience in full‑stack application development with expertise in AWS cloud services.
- Strong proficiency in front‑end frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js.
- Experience with backend technologies such as Node.js, Java, Python, or .NET.
- Hands‑on experience with AWS services such as Lambda, ECS, S3, API Gateway, DynamoDB, RDS, IAM, and CloudFormation/Terraform.
- Proficiency in building RESTful APIs and microservices‑based architectures or relevant domain‑specific architectures and patterns.
- Experience with DevOps tools such as Git, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong knowledge of authentication, security best practices, and scalability in cloud environments.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to work in a fast‑paced agile environment.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
Eligibility

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
- AWS Certified Developer or Solutions Architect certification.
- Experience with serverless architectures and event‑driven design patterns.
- Knowledge of GraphQL, WebSockets, or real‑time data processing.
- Familiarity with machine learning or data engineering on AWS.
