Job summary

Lightfoot in Exeter is recruiting an AWS Cloud Engineer to design, develop and maintain real-time telematics applications using Python.

You will build cloud-native solutions with AWS services, dockerize and orchestrate with Kubernetes, and collaborate across data engineers, DevOps and product teams in a hybrid role with two office days per week. The position offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain scalable, real-time telematics applications using Python.
  • Optimise applications for low latency and high throughput to process large-scale vehicle data.
  • Develop cloud-native solutions using AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, ECS, SQS, Aurora).
  • Build and deploy containerised apps with Docker and Kubernetes; implement serverless where appropriate.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, DevOps and product teams; participate in code reviews and Agile ceremonies.

Job description

Salary: £26,000 - 66,000 per year

Requirements:

  • Strong commercial experience designing and developing cloud-native applications within AWS.
  • Excellent knowledge of AWS services including S3, Lambda, EC2, ECS, SQS and Amazon Aurora.
  • Expert-level Python development skills.
  • Proven experience designing and building highly available, scalable and resilient software solutions.
  • Strong experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies, including Docker, Kubernetes and Helm.
  • Experience with Git, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD practices.
  • Good understanding of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and software testing best practices.
  • Experience designing and implementing ETL processes, both within and outside AWS.
  • Desirable: experience working within Agile teams using Jira.
  • Desirable: knowledge of Java and/or C++.
  • Desirable: experience with Microsoft Azure data services, including Azure Data Factory (ADF).

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions and Agile ceremonies to promote engineering excellence and continuous improvement.

We are hiring an AWS Cloud Engineer for a hybrid role based at our Exeter office, with two office days per week on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. You will work 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, as part of a talented team focused on the evolution of our cloud architecture.
