Job summary

HeliService U.K. Limited is seeking an HEMS Commander to join a close-knit team based at a state-of-the-art heliport next to RAF Waddington, Lincoln, covering the 3,500 square mile area.

The successful candidate must hold UK CAA ATPL(H)/IR, Class 1 Medical, and 1,000 hours PIC (HEMS experience preferred), including night NVIS. You will prepare flight documentation, brief the HEMS team, and lead safe CAT operations while engaging with communities and partners.

Qualifications

• Requires UK CAA ATPL(H)/IR and Class 1 Medical.
• Minimum 1000 hours PIC, or 1000 hours as co-pilot in HEMS with 500 hours PIC under supervision and 100 hours PIC of helicopters.

Responsibilities

• Prepare aircraft and flight documentation.
• Follow Operations Manual and all policy/procedures.
• Daily flight briefings to duty HEMS team.
• Conduct CAT flights for HEMS day/night and NVIS.
• Maintain strict time parameters for patients.
• Follow SOPs with charity partners.
• Deliver high level of service to customers, patients, and supporters.
• Meet supporters, ex-patients and participate in public liaison events.

Job description

Applications are invited for the position of HEMS Commander with HeliService U.K. Limited.

The successful candidate will join a close-knit team operating out of a state-of-the-art heliport located next to RAF Waddington, Lincoln, which is centrally located to cover the 3,500 mile² area of operations.

The Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance is one of the longest serving Air Ambulance charities in the UK, established in 1994 , and provides advanced pre-hospital care to the communities it serves.

• Preparation of aircraft and flight documentation.
• To follow the Operations Manual and all associated policy and procedures.
• Daily flight briefings to the duty HEMS team.
• The safe conduct of CAT flights for the purpose of HEMS day/night & under NVIS.
• Maintaining strict time parameters and procedures in the interest of patients.
• Follow SOPs issued in partnership with our charity partners.
• Deliver a consistently high level of service to our customer, patients and public supporters.
• Meeting customer’s supporters, ex-patients and undertaking public liaison events whilst on duty

Your profile

Required Experience

• UK CAA ATPL(H)/IR
• Class 1 Medical
• Either:
  • 1000 hours as pilot-in-command of which 500 hours are as pilot-in-command of helicopters or
  • 1000 hours as co-pilot in HEMS operations of which 500 hours are as pilot-in-command under supervision and 100 hours pilot-in-command of helicopters
• 500 hours’ operating experience in helicopters gained in a similar operational environment
• 20 hours of VMC at night as pilot-in-command
• AW169 Type Rating
• HEMS operations
• NVIS operations
