Job summary

Future Talent Group is partnering with an advanced autonomy and drone technology business in Aylesbury to recruit an Avionics Technician/Engineer. The role focuses on avionics integration, flight testing, system evaluation, and ongoing platform development, with direct reporting to the Chief Engineer.

This hands-on position is ideal for someone with practical experience in UAVs or aerospace systems, capable of solving problems independently and helping shape processes as we scale.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with UAVs, aerospace, robotics, avionics or complex electro-mechanical systems.
• Soldering, wiring fault finding and bench testing fundamentals.
• Experience integrating avionics, sensors and mission systems.

Responsibilities

• Support integration, assembly and testing of advanced UAS/UAV platforms.
• Own flight testing, system evaluation and troubleshooting activities.
• Build and modify wiring harnesses, connectors and avionics systems.
• Carry out soldering, bench testing and electrical integration work.
• Support payload integration including sensors, LiDAR and mission systems.
• Assist with system validation before handover to flight operations.
• Collaborate with engineering on prototype and production builds.
• Help improve internal processes, documentation and testing capability.

We’re supporting an advanced autonomy and drone technology business developing highly sophisticated UAS platforms designed to transform how critical infrastructure is monitored and surveyed.

As the company continues to scale, they are looking to hire a Avionics Technician/Engineer to support avionics integration, flight testing, system evaluation, and ongoing platform development.

This is a hands-on, all-rounder technical role reporting directly to the Chief Engineer, with significant scope to take ownership, help shape processes, and support the ongoing evolution of a market-leading autonomy platform.

What you’ll be doing:

• Support the integration, assembly, and testing of advanced UAS / UAV platforms
• Own flight testing, system evaluation, and technical troubleshooting activities
• Build and modify wiring harnesses, connectors, and avionics systems
• Carry out soldering, bench testing, diagnostics, and electrical integration work
• Support payload integration including sensors, LiDAR, thermal imaging, and mission systems
• Assist with system validation before handover to flight operations teams
• Work closely with engineering teams on prototype and production builds
• Help improve internal processes, documentation, and testing capability as the business grows

What we’re looking for:

• Previous hands-on experience working on UAV, aerospace, robotics, avionics, or complex electro-mechanical systems
• Strong electronics fundamentals including soldering, wiring, fault finding, and bench testing
• Experience integrating avionics, sensors, payloads, or mission systems
• Comfortable working in fast-paced R&D or technology development environments
• Proactive mindset with the ability to solve problems independently

Nice to have:

• Military, RAF, aerospace, or defence background
• Experience supporting flight test and evaluation activities

This is not a hobbyist drone role the business is looking for someone with genuine hands-on technical experience who wants to play a key role in developing next-generation autonomous systems.
