Qualifications

  • Excellent knowledge of corporate audio-visual equipment, with up-to-date technical knowledge.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate with clients under event pressure.

  • Confidence to identify risks and make dynamic decisions to protect the venue and the client.

Job description

Our client has a new opportunity for an AV Technician to join their team. The role involves supporting the Discipline Head and Senior AV & IT Logistics Manager as part of a professional team delivering high-quality technical presentation services to events primarily within the venue and occasionally at external locations.

The AV Department

The AV Department is part of the Operations team, which prides itself on delivering exemplary levels of customer service to enhance the visitor experience.

The department delivers Audio Visual services for the venue and is a key part of its success, incorporating many specialists in the AV industry. They work closely with event managers to organise and operate most events, providing first-class AV technology to clients.

Key Tasks
  • Rigging and de-rigging audio, lighting, AV, video/data, sets, and display equipment in accordance with health and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Operate Audio Visual technical equipment during events.
  • Undertake general duties under instruction from the Senior AV & IT Logistics Manager or Discipline Head, including maintaining a tidy and efficient working environment.
  • Represent the AV Department as a Client Liaison Technician, acting as a conduit between the client and project management on an event.
  • Assist with the development of facilities and extend the boundaries of achievable operations.
  • Assist with inventory storage of equipment, including repairs.
  • Undertake training (both internal and external) in all relevant technical subjects.
  • Support the Senior AV & IT Logistics Manager or Discipline Head in identifying improvements in day-to-day operations.
  • Deploy equipment at own discretion if essential to the effective operation of an event (If billed to a client, prior approval is required from management).
  • Make immediate procedural decisions where necessary; more significant decisions will be made in conjunction with senior staff.
  • Carry out any other duties as requested by management (including weekend work).
  • Assist in the delivery of Event ICT, including but not limited to: running network cables, basic troubleshooting, VLAN association, IP subnet address configuration, setting up printers and IP phones.
Person Specification
Experience
  • Excellent knowledge of corporate audio-visual equipment, with up-to-date technical knowledge.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate with clients under event pressure.
  • Ability to work across teams to deliver client expectations in a timely and professional manner.
  • Confidence to identify risks and make dynamic decisions to protect the venue and the client.
Technical Skills And Qualifications
  • Qualification in Audio Visual or equivalent experience.
  • IOSH trained, or equivalent experience in working at height and manual handling.
  • Any rigging and slinging training.
