Job summary

Planet Recruitment is partnering with a prestigious school in Oxfordshire to recruit an AV/IT Technician. You will own the school's AV equipment and provide frontline IT support to staff and pupils, covering day-to-day IT tasks, classroom technology, sound, lighting and live event production.

You will play a key role in delivering reliable, high-quality technical services across the school, supporting concerts, productions and major events with proactive, organised problem-solving.

Qualifications

• Experience in AV Technician or IT support roles.
• Familiarity with professional AV equipment and event production technologies.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the school's AV equipment and systems across classrooms, meetings, presentations and events.
• Provide frontline technical support to staff and pupils, resolving AV and IT issues promptly and professionally.
• Coordinate and deliver technical support for school events, including concerts, productions, presentations, meetings and functions.
• Support sound mixing, lighting, projection, video editing and livestreaming for in-person and online events.
• Work with the Music Department and other school teams to support concerts and larger productions.
• Assist with setup, operation and troubleshooting of classroom AV equipment and related technologies.
• Train staff and pupils in the effective use of AV equipment and event technology.
• Assist with wider IT projects and provide additional technical support as required by the Director of IT.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded individual to take ownership of the school's audio-visual (AV) equipment and systems, while providing frontline IT support to staff and pupils.

The role offers a varied mix of day-to-day IT support, classroom technology, sound, lighting and live event production.

From ensuring lessons run smoothly to supporting concerts, school productions and major events, you'll play a key role in delivering a reliable and high-quality technical service across the school.

We're keen to hear from candidates with experience in AV, IT support or a related technical environment who are proactive, organised and eager to develop their technical knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the school's AV equipment and systems, ensuring they operate effectively across classrooms, meetings, presentations and events.
• Provide frontline technical support to staff and pupils, resolving AV and IT issues promptly and professionally.
• Coordinate and deliver technical support for school events, including concerts, productions, presentations, meetings and functions.
• Support sound mixing, lighting, projection, video editing and livestreaming for both in-person and online events.
• Work closely with the Music Department and other school teams to support concerts and larger-scale productions.
• Assist with the setup, operation and troubleshooting of classroom AV equipment and associated technologies.
• Train and support staff and pupils in the effective use of AV equipment and event technology.
• Assist with wider IT projects and provide additional technical support as required by the Director of IT.

• Previous experience in an AV Technician, IT Technician, IT Support or similar technical role.
• Familiarity with professional AV equipment and event production technologies.
• Experience supporting live events, livestreaming, theatrical lighting, sound systems or video production.
• Experience with Microsoft products in a school or enterprise environment.
