Role purpose

The AV Commissioning Engineer is to work as part of the Installation team providing commissioning of installed equipment, including video/audio control functionality of the various devices. This role requires programming expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to manage projects. The AV Commissioning Engineer will work closely with clients, project managers, and team members to deliver high‑quality AV solutions and ensure successful project outcomes.

Key responsibilities
  • Represent SCC AVS in a professional manner at all times.
  • Perform on‑site commissioning and configuration of our systems.
  • Perform off‑site testing to ensure systems are working at optimum levels.
  • Set up, test and commission systems on‑site to meet the required standards.
  • Fault find systems and resolve issues associated with design and manufacture.
  • Deal with all aspects of interfacing of audio‑visual systems into our client’s buildings, encompassing both hardware and software interfaces.
  • Completion of company documentation, such as AIS & commissioning documents.
  • Carry out testing and configuration of systems built off‑site prior to acceptance testing.
  • Provide project details and equipment specifications to in‑house and third‑party control programmers, assisting with control system programming and any issues.
  • Provide technical support for all installed systems, including technical advice to the client and other team members.
  • Provide technical support for on‑site system maintenance, system repairs and modifications after project completion.
  • Provide technical information and support for Sales, Installation and Project Management staff.
  • Ensure all works meet SCC standards and client specifications.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating best practices and promoting a culture of continuous improvement within the team.
  • Ensure Personal PPE and Tools are maintained and safe to use or replace where needed.
  • Working in collaboration with colleagues and 3rd‑parties to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to maintain knowledge.
Skills and experience
  • Certification in AV technology CTS
  • Crestron, Extron, QSC, and AMX relevant commissioning qualifications.
  • A proven track record in Audio Visual installations, maintenance, and operation.
  • Experience with large‑scale AV projects and integrated systems.
  • ECS Certification (not essential for recruitment, but essential for the role once it is commenced)
  • In‑depth knowledge of Networking, and commissioning.
  • Must have worked with corporate and/or government clients and in multi‑discipline project teams and have the ability to work with a variety of professionals.
  • Be presentable, articulate with excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
  • Strong communication and delegation skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex technical diagrams and blueprints.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Valid driver's license with a willingness to travel to customer sites.
  • Ability to work flexibly, as required by the business, including weekends and out of hours.
