Job summary

Kingston Barnes Ltd in Essex is seeking an Auxiliary Plant Operator to support boiler house and turbine hall operations in a busy waste-to-energy facility. You will work with the Shift Team to maximise plant availability and uphold safety standards.

Duties include plant checks, operating mobile plant and weighbridges, crane operations, and frontline maintenance. Experience in process/production, and eligibility to work in the UK, are essential.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a process, production or manufacturing environment.
• Experience in the operation of mobile plant, steam boilers or similar.
• Understanding of process/factory machinery.
• Eligible to live and work in the UK to apply for this position.

Responsibilities

• Carry out operational activities within the boiler house and turbine hall in a safe, professional, economical and timely manner.
• Operate plant under the direction of the Shift Team Leader to maximise plant availability.
• Assist the Shift Team with plant operation while maintaining company standards and legal compliance.
• Conduct plant checks and monitor machinery to ensure optimum performance at all times.
• Update shift log and perform diligent handovers to the following shift.

Auxiliary Plant Operator in Essex

Key responsibilities

• Competently carry out operational activities within the boiler house and turbine hall and ensure that they are carried out in a safe, professional, economical and timely manner in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Ensure the efficient day to day operation of the plant under the direction of the Shift Team Leader, maximising plant availability at the facility.
• Assist the Shift Team with the operation of plant whilst maintaining all company standards and ensuring legal compliance.
• To conduct plant checks, monitoring of machinery and ensuring optimum performance of all equipment is maintained at all times.
• Update the shift log including plant and process changes, diligent shift handover to ensure effective communication to the following shift.
• Ensure work carried out is conducted as per the manufacturer’s guidelines and in accordance with the Safe System of Work.
• Reporting of accidents, incidents and near misses as per company procedures.
• Ensure operations are conducted in line with health and safety legislation and Viridor standards.
• Assist with all shutdown activities within the plant ensuring plant downtime is minimised, also carry out front line maintenance to ensure plant availability is maintained.
• Assisting with loading and unloading operations.
• Operation of mobile plant and machinery.
• Operation of weighbridges (including automated systems), weighing vehicles and completing tickets as required.
• Supervise/co-ordinate the safe unloading of plant consumables, such as Lime, Carbon, Ammonia and Gas Oil.
• Safely operate an overhead travelling crane.
• Perform other duties as assigned within the limitations of training and capabilities.
• Carry out front line maintenance activities within the boiler house and whole plant if required.

The Candidate

• Previous experience working within a process, production or manufacturing environment.
• Experience in the operation of mobile plant, steam boilers or similar
• Understanding of process/factory machinery.
• From marine, power generation or energy from waste or similar ideally
