Job summary

Saab UK is seeking a Flight Control Systems Engineer to develop and test safety-critical software for our autonomous flight systems in Bedfordshire. You will work with MATLAB/Simulink to create control laws, verify via simulations, and deploy to hardware for real-world flight tests at our facility near the office.

You will contribute to requirements, SOPs, and continuous improvement while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team and presenting results to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Degree in aerospace engineering or similar.
• Understanding of aerodynamics and flight mechanics, and their impact on flight control.
• Experience in using MATLAB/Simulink for developing algorithms and control laws.
• Hands-on experience in designing and commissioning control systems.
• Existing SC Clearance.
• National Security Vetting clearance to SC level or ability to gain it.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and test safety critical software for flight systems.
• Contribute to requirements definition and verification using bespoke simulations.
• Deploy software to target hardware and conduct real-world flight testing at our test facility.
• Present testing findings in reports or customer-facing presentations.
• Develop and improve standard operating processes and quality targets.
• Collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment and contribute to continuous improvement.
