Job summary

IAA on Canvey Island is seeking a dedicated Yard Operative to manage vehicle movement, cleaning, and documentation for deliveries, collections and storage. You will work in a busy yard, ensuring high standards of safety and presentation while supporting GDPR compliance and stock control.

The role offers day shifts from 08:30 to 17:00, with on-site training, uniform and PPE provided, and benefits including parking, health support, staff discounts, and holiday entitlement.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence
• Experience working outdoors in all weathers
• Ability to accurately record vehicle damage in the system
• Forklift experience is advantageous but not essential (on-site training funded)
• Team player with good written and verbal communication
• Excellent attention to detail and basic IT skills
• Experience in salvage sites or interest in vehicles is desirable but not essential

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day yard duties focusing on vehicle movement and organisation for deliveries, collections, marketing and storage
• Clean vehicles to ensure high-quality images
• Process logbooks, documentation and keys in line with safety and GDPR
• Support GDPR and Salvage Personal Belongings compliance
• Ensure high quality control with no vehicle or part damage
• Liaise with customers and drivers for loading/unloading
• Meet and greet customers and manage payments and PPE compliance
• Maintain housekeeping and safe, efficient work area
• Assist with stock inventory processing
• Destickering in line with client agreements
• Maintain high health and safety standards
