Job Purpose

We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Automotive Fitter Technicians to join our expert team on the UK South Coast. The successful candidates will be a multi‑skilled professional responsible for the meticulous assembly, fitting, and finishing of our high‑performance vehicles across various disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, interior systems and exterior body panels. This role requires exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the superior quality standards synonymous with the AC Cars brand.

Key Responsibilities
  • Vehicle Assembly: Perform precise fitting and assembly of vehicle components at various production stages, from chassis build to final finish.
  • Multi‑Discipline Expertise: Apply skills across mechanical, electrical, and interior fitting. This includes installing engines, transmissions, braking systems, race‑tuned suspension, wiring looms, diagnostic equipment, bespoke interior trim, and exterior body panels.
  • Quality & Craftsmanship: Ensure all work is executed to an exacting specification, paying meticulous attention to detail and finish quality.
  • Problem Solving & Diagnostics: Diagnose faults and fitment issues, providing efficient and effective solutions in collaboration with the engineering and design teams.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all work, parts used, and testing procedures in line with company and regulatory standards.
  • Testing: Conduct functional tests, including road tests where necessary, to confirm the vehicle’s integrity, safety, and performance.
  • Health & Safety: Adhere strictly to all workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
  • Continuous Improvement: Embrace ongoing training and stay current with manufacturer technical bulletins and new technologies used in our vehicles (e.g., carbon‑fibre, EV drivetrains).
Skills and Qualifications
Essential:
  • Proven experience as an Automotive Fitter, Technician, or Mechanic, ideally within a low‑volume, luxury, or specialist vehicle manufacturing/restoration environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of automotive mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in using a wide array of hand, power, and diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read and accurately interpret complex engineering drawings, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams.
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem‑solving skills.
  • Manual dexterity and a keen eye for detail and high‑quality finish.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a collaborative approach to problem‑solving.
  • A "can‑do" attitude, passion for high‑performance cars, and dedication to British craftsmanship.
  • A valid, clean UK driving licence.
Desirable:
  • Industry‑recognised qualifications (e.g., IMI Levels 2/3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
  • Experience with modern materials and manufacturing processes (e.g., carbon‑fibre, aluminium fabrication).
  • Familiarity with V8 powertrains and/or electric vehicle technology.
