Job summary

moveatech Limited in the Midlands is seeking a Project Manager with a focus on Body In White (BIW) and automation to oversee automation projects from quoting to delivery.

You will manage cross-functional teams, communicate with clients and suppliers, and drive risk management, planning, and reporting using MS Project and Prince2 principles. A driving licence and strong PLC/robot programming knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of project management experience in automotive automation.
• Strong background in industrial automation systems including PLC and robot programming.
• Experience with BIW/Closures/Paint or Battery manufacturing environments.
• Experience with quoting jobs and managing variations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office including Microsoft Project.
• Valid UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full lifecycle of automation projects from customer requirements to completion.
• Communicate with clients and third-party suppliers to ensure requirements are understood and met.
• Identify and mitigate risks, maintain a Risk & Issue Log and contingency plans.
• Plan, monitor, and report progress using MS Project and Prince2 principles.
• Manage multi-disciplinary project teams and ensure collaboration and efficient workflow.
• File project documentation per company policy and provide weekly progress reports.
• Build strong relationships with project sponsors and stakeholders.
• Lead technical and operational aspects, ensuring alignment with change control processes.
• Adhere to Health and Safety requirements throughout the project lifecycle.

Project Manager – BIW & Robotics (Body In White / Industrial Automation)

Location: Midlands/Northampton/Hertfordshire (Hybrid)

Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 per year

As a Project Manager with a focus on Body In White (BIW) and automation, you will be responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of automation projects within the automotive sector. This role will require strong project management skills, the ability to manage complex and large-scale projects, and a deep understanding of control systems, PLC, and robot programming. You will manage all aspects of the project lifecycle, from quoting to delivery, ensuring projects are on schedule, within budget, and meet the highest standards of quality.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Project Management: Lead the full lifecycle of automation projects, from initial customer requirements to project completion.
• Customer and Supplier Management: Communicate with clients and third-party suppliers to ensure requirements are understood and met.
• Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate risks, maintaining a Risk & Issue Log and implementing contingency plans.
• Project Planning & Monitoring: Use MS Project and Prince2 principles to plan, monitor, and report project progress.
• Team Leadership: Manage multi-disciplinary project teams, ensuring high levels of collaboration and efficient workflow.
• Documentation & Reporting: Ensure all project documentation is filed in line with company policies and provide weekly progress reports.
• Customer Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with project sponsors and key stakeholders.
• Technical and Operational Leadership: Lead the technical and operational aspects of projects, ensuring alignment with established change control processes.
• Compliance: Adhere to Health and Safety requirements and best practices throughout the project lifecycle.

Experience & Skills Required

• Project Management Experience: Minimum of 3 years of project management experience in an automotive automation environment.
• Controls & Robotics Expertise: Strong background in industrial automation systems, including PLC and robot programming. Experience managing projects involving a high number of industrial robots is essential.
• Industry Experience: Expertise in Body In White (BIW), Closures, Paint, or Battery manufacturing environments.
• Project Quoting & Variations: Experience with quoting jobs, managing variations, and ensuring accurate cost management.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project, to manage and track project timelines and resources.
• Valid UK Driving License: A current driving license is mandatory.
