Automation Project Engineer

Our Telford based client has been established for almost 20 years and are recognised as leading providers of all aspects of hardware and software design through to robot systems integration and commission on a range of bespoke automation solutions for supply to a diverse range of clients throughout the UK, and as a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced Automation Project Engineer to complement their highly successful Projects team.

Responsibilities
  • Tasked with supporting multiple projects averaging <£75k as required by the Project Manager.
  • Develop Functional Design Specifications and associated Controls layouts according to FDS requirements, as well as associated Safety Matrix and Device List information.
  • Support electrical installation planning, commissioning and final acceptance testing and visiting customer sites as required to ensure milestones and customer satisfaction are achieved.
  • Develop technical documents in line with client requirements to the industry standard using technical features, diagrams and maintain overall responsibility for project gateway sign off for the automation of the project – including (but not limited to) FDS, electrical design (including AutoCAD layouts and converting mechanical layout into Controls layout), FAT, electrical installation planning, commissioning & final acceptance testing.
  • Responsible for all aspects of Resource Management for each assigned project, ensuring project materials are identified, in budget, ordered and delivered onsite to project schedule and creating associated project documentation to satisfy CE/UKCA marking requirements.
  • Support the activities of fellow team members and ensure compliance with relevant H&S legislation as applicable and provide weekly project updates on task status as required.
  • Attend meetings at an associated facility in Nottingham and undertake additional training where required, working both autonomously and as part of the team, both on site and in the workshop, ensuring all relevant Health and Safety legislation is adhered to.
  • Skilled in all aspects of scheduling, prioritisation, budget management, task management and risk management, demonstrating at least 3 years previous experience of project management within a logistics automation environment with proven knowledge and experience gained in electrical / PLC design and development.

  • At least 3 years previous experience of project management within a logistics automation environment.
  • Proven knowledge and experience gained in electrical / PLC design and development ideally from a conveyor, robotics or automotive arena.
