Job summary

Tesco Property - Maintenance is recruiting a multi-skilled engineer with mechanical and electrical bias to maintain and repair brand-new equipment across our sites. You will apply your technical expertise to ensure optimal performance and drive continuous improvement, while prioritising customer service and safety in every task.

You will conduct regular inspections, log maintenance, and work within established practices to keep equipment in top condition.

Qualifications

  • Full engineering apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in a relevant subject.
  • Experience in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance on automated equipment.
  • Electrical/mechanical cross-skill training is required.
  • Strong problem solving and root cause analysis abilities.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to analyse data to support timely decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Complete maintenance to a high standard and log/revisit items as needed.
  • Maintain safety by assessing risks on every job.
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Monitor site performance, availability and performance metrics.
  • Manage time effectively to deliver best value to customers.
  • Document findings for major breakdowns using root cause analysis.
  • Assist in maintaining site budgets and managing spares/hours.
  • Keep CMMS up to date and complete shift reports.

You will be responsible for
  • Completing maintenance to an excellent standard, whilst ensuring any items that need rectifying are either immediately repaired or logged and scheduled in for revisiting.
  • Operate with safety in mind at all times, dynamically risk-assessing all jobs to ensure the safety of myself and those around me.
  • Build effective relationships with my colleagues and stakeholders from all departments, ensuring strong bonds with my operational colleagues and supporting them where possible.
  • Supervising performance of my site to ensure that we're always operating efficiently. I understand terms such as availability and performance, and utilising various means to measure these.
  • Being proactive and dynamic with my timekeeping, ensuring that I give the best value to the customer within my working time. I actively look for ways to be encouraging and continuously improve as a business.
  • Document findings for major breakdowns/outages, using root cause analysis methods and proven approaches.
  • Support in ensuring sites maintenance budget is adhered to, through working with a no-waste approach and repairing/testing replaced equipment for future use where possible.
  • Administrative maintenance, ensuring the CMMS is up to date and truly reflective of the maintenance position on site and completing other tasks such as shift reports to a high standard
  • Support in the maintenance of the budget for my site by ensuring that spares/hours are accurately used and tracked.
You will need
  • Served a full Engineering apprenticeship and/or qualified to a minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant Engineering subject
  • Relevant experience working in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance
  • Experience working hands-on within an engineering/maintenance department on highly automated equipment
  • Electrical/mechanical cross-skill training
  • Excellent problem solving and root cause analysis
  • Communication and stakeholder management
  • Analysis and presentation of data to achieve timely decisions

  • Setting and maintaining of the highest of standards
