Job summary

Jersey Post is seeking a Mail Sorting Systems Engineer to keep our automated mail and parcel processing equipment running safely and efficiently. You will maintain, troubleshoot and improve a range of systems, ensuring uptime and peak performance across sorting machinery and related infrastructure.

The role requires electrical qualifications, PLC knowledge, and strong diagnostic skills, plus the ability to read technical drawings and work safely in a production environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified electrician with NVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent.
• Experience maintaining and fault-finding industrial automation equipment.
• Ability to read drawings, wiring diagrams and manuals.
• Full driving licence and commitment to safe working practices.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain automated mail and parcel sorting equipment.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and respond to faults.
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical and control system issues across machinery.
• Maintain parcel locker networks and infrastructure.
• Update system configurations and software as needed.
• Ensure maintenance is safe and compliant with standards.
• Keep maintenance records and logs.
• Provide technical support to teams and contractors.
• Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers for repairs.
• Identify improvements to reliability and performance.
• Participate in out-of-hours breakdown support.
