GSK Barnard Castle is seeking an Automation Engineer to deliver technical expertise across automation and control systems on new and existing equipment. The role is site-based with flexible working policies and opportunities for training and progression.

You will work with cross-functional teams, ensure compliance with OT security standards, support CAPA and maintenance, and help drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimise packaging and manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• Relevant engineering qualification (e.g. Apprenticeship in Electrical, Instrumentation/Controls Engineering or Computer Science or engineering degree).
• Experience in a Pharmaceutical or highly regulated manufacturing environment.
• Technical/operational knowledge of automation systems (SCADA, PLC, HMI, Servo, Vision, Field Instrumentation).

Responsabilités

• Provide technical expertise on advanced automated manufacturing/packaging processes, inputting into user requirement specifications and signing off automation elements of capital projects as system owner.
• Work with cross-functional groups to resolve complex technical challenges while maintaining engineering standards.
• Ensure compliance with OT Security Standards and build cybersecurity awareness within teams.
• Review obsolescence risks for the Production Business Unit and drive facility improvements.
• Maintain and manage the site asset register for automation equipment.
• Collaborate with central teams to develop new automation technologies and review supplier performance.
• Support engineering technicians with complex equipment failures and CAPA activities.
• Act as the point of contact for production automation support with flexible hours.
• Participate in DMAIC, RCA, CAPA and deviations input as automation SME.
