Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Automation Test Engineer / SDET to design, develop, and deliver robust test solutions for complex applications. You will build and maintain automation frameworks, run API and microservices testing, and ensure quality across the software development life cycle.

The role requires Security Clearance, strong communication, and the ability to travel to London for client projects.

Qualifications

Design, develop, and deliver test solutions
Oversee development, implementation, and maintenance of automated test scripts
Verify usability, functionality, performance, and scalability of company and client applications
Construct automation tools and expand framework functionality for unique team requirements
Establish processes for automation and performance monitoring
Contribute to Quality Engineering teams and clients in establishing automation and testing best practices
Collaborate with teams to address automation challenges
Coordinate efforts across teams to resolve performance test failures
Support and develop team members
Foster best practices and keep current with industry standards and advances
Work directly with public- and private-sector clients with minimal supervision

Requirements

Experienced Automation Test Engineer / SDET
Testing background and confidence running client projects with minimal supervision
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
In-depth understanding of QA processes and the software development life cycle
Hands-on experience building test automation frameworks from scratch
3+ years of experience with scripting and programming languages such as JavaScript and Java
Experience with API testing, ideally using RestAssured or SoapUI
Experience implementing Contract Testing solutions
Familiarity with CI/CD pipeline configuration
Expertise establishing and executing testing tools, environments, and data across testing stages
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including developers and QA team members
Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes for testing microservices in containerised environments
Automated API testing with Java, such as RestAssured or SoapUI
Experience with Contract Testing tools such as PACT
Experience using Jira, Confluence, or similar collaborative tools in Agile/Scrum teams
Working knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI
Understanding of microservices-based application testing
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
Understanding of accessibility testing
Must have held Security Clearance in the past or hold active SC status
Open to client-required travel, primarily to London
Best suited to candidates within a commutable distance of London
