Job Description

Organon is recruiting an Automation Engineer to join our world-class manufacturing site in Cramlington, Northumberland. In this role, you will support and optimise automated systems within Cramlington’s tablet manufacturing operations. The position focuses on improving production efficiency, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining high product quality through the design, implementation, and upkeep of automation technologies.

Role Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain automation systems for tablet production processes including granulation, blending, compression, coating, packaging and warehousing.
  • Program and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems used in manufacturing equipment.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Quality, Engineering, and Production) to identify automation opportunities and implement solutions.
  • Ensure automation systems comply with regulatory and engineering standards.
  • Perform Validation (CSV) activities for automated systems.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including SOPs, validation documentation, and system specifications.
  • Monitor system performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and increase throughput.
  • Provide technical support to operators and maintenance personnel.
Required Education, Experience and Skills
  • Minimum of a level 4 qualification in Electrical Engineering, Automation or related field.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, preferably in solid dosage (tablet) production.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen‑Bradley), SCADA, and industrial control systems.
  • Strong understanding of GMP, data integrity, and validation.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
