Qualifications

Overview

We are seeking a skilled AutoCAD Engineer to join our site-based engineering team in the Reading area. This role involves supporting project delivery through CAD design review, technical coordination, and integration of multi-system drawings. You\'ll work closely with design engineers, subcontractors, and project managers to ensure all designs meet client specifications and industry standards.


Responsibilities


  • Collaborate with design engineers to validate and optimise engineering designs.

  • Review subcontractor drawings and documentation for compliance with project specifications.

  • Manage and resolve technical queries throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Support project scheduling and task allocation in coordination with Lead Engineers and PMs.

  • Participate in factory acceptance tests and project sign-off activities.

  • Work across multiple systems and software platforms, including:


    • AutoCAD MEP

    • AutoCAD Plant 3D

    • NAVIS Works

    • Point Cloud data

    • Clash detection and model integration



Candidate Requirements


  • Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • CSCS card holder.

  • Experience in highly regulated industries (e.g., nuclear, pharma, oil & gas) preferred.

  • Eligible for Security Clearance (SC).

  • Strong understanding of project lifecycle phases and engineering documentation.

  • Familiarity with electrical safety standards (18th Edition, BS EN 13849).

  • Awareness of PLC systems and ISO 9001 environments.

  • Excellent technical writing and reporting skills.

  • Ability to interpret complex specifications and apply relevant standards.

  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with a pragmatic approach to engineering challenges.
