Job summary

REESON Education is seeking an experienced tutor to work with a young person requiring additional learning and emotional support in the Hillingdon area. The role includes delivering a tailored Year 7 curriculum, with sessions in school or at home, under the supervision of teachers and a 1:1 mentor.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting autistic children or young people with additional needs, and flexible, student-centred approaches to engage the learner.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting autistic children or young people with additional needs.
• SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) needs experience is beneficial but not essential.
• Flexibility in how support is delivered.

Responsibilities

• Provide sessions either in school or at home, depending on the student's needs.
• Deliver and adapt curriculum content (Year 7 level) in partnership with teaching staff.
• Build trust and emotional safety by working at the student's pace.
• Use positive, student-centred approaches to support engagement.
• Support independence while offering guidance when needed.
• Identify potential sensory or emotional challenges and respond appropriately.
• Encourage communication, provide processing time, and offer flexible choices.
• Help promote emotional regulation through a calm, consistent approach.
• Accompany the student to familiar and supportive environments when needed.
