Autism Support Assistant

We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Autism Support Assistant to work with KS2 pupils in a specialist primary SEN setting in L6. This role involves supporting children with autism and learning difficulties, helping them to access learning and develop essential social and emotional skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide tailored support to KS2 pupils with autism and learning difficulties, both 1:1 and in small groups.
  • Implement strategies to promote engagement, communication, and independence.
  • Support behaviour management and encourage positive routines.
  • Work closely with teachers and the SEN team to adapt learning materials and interventions.
  • Build nurturing relationships that foster confidence and resilience.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Experience supporting children with autism and learning difficulties in school or specialist settings.
  • Behaviour management skills and ability to implement structured interventions.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with staff and families.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience in supporting pupils with complex needs.
