Job summary

Academics is recruiting Autism and SEMH Teaching Assistants to support pupils across Doncaster in specialist settings. You will work with children with Autism, SEMH and related needs, delivering 1:1 and small group support in both primary and secondary provisions.

You’ll help with activities and therapies that promote communication, emotional regulation and independent learning, while building strong relationships with staff and learners. DBS checks are welcome.

Qualifications

• Previous SEN experience or a strong understanding of Autism, SEMH and associated needs.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Enhanced Child and Adult DBS Certificate (or willingness to obtain both, as some provisions support post‑16 learners)

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with Autism (ASC), SEMH and additional needs.
• Deliver 1:1 support alongside small group intervention sessions.
• Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Assist with therapeutic and personalised learning activities.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, teachers and wider professionals.
• Follow safeguarding procedures at all times.
