Job summary

Scottish Autism is seeking Autism Practitioners (Support Workers) to provide housing, outreach and care support across Central Area Services in Alloa. You will work a fixed rota with a mix of shifts including mornings and sleepovers, helping autistic adults build independence and everyday life skills.

The role offers a supportive environment with comprehensive training and PVG/SSSC process support. Applications welcome from those with care experience and a commitment to person-centred care.

Qualifications

• PVG Disclosure check required and paid for by employer.
• Must register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 6 months of starting.
• Visa sponsorship for this post is not available.

Responsibilities

• Support autistic individuals across outreach, housing, and residential services to lead happy and fulfilling lives.
• Develop independence, confidence, and everyday life skills including tenancy, household tasks, budgeting, and paying bills.
• Help individuals build confidence in relationships and access groups, activities, and local amenities.
• Support personal goals while promoting voice and choice in all aspects of life.
• Provide personal care as needed, including toileting, medication, bathing, and oral hygiene.

Location: Central Area Services, AlloaPart time (up to 25 hours per week), Temporary Roles available

Pay Scale: Starting at £13.45 per hour, rising to £13.67 after probation. Opportunity to progress to £14.15 at your own pace.

What You’ll Do:

As an Autism Practitioner, you’ll:

• Support autistic individuals across a mixture of outreach, housing support, and residential services to lead happy and fulfilling lives.

• Develop individuals' independence, confidence, and everyday life skills, including managing and maintaining their own tenancy, household tasks, cooking, budgeting, and paying bills.

• Support people to build confidence in relationships, access groups, activities, and local amenities, and become more involved in their communities.

• Support individuals to achieve personal goals, while promoting their voice, choice in all aspects of their lives.

• Personal care is an essential part of the role and will vary depending on individual needs. This may include support with toileting, medication, bathing, and oral hygiene.

This is a 24/7 service, and you'll work a fixed rota covering a mix of morning, day, evening, sleepover and weekend shifts. In some services, 7am starts are an essential requirement of the rota and applicants must be able to accommodate these shifts.
