Job summary

LONDON BOROUGH OF BRENT's Brent Outreach Autism Team seeks an Autism Specialist Outreach Teacher to deliver specialist support across primary mainstream schools, improving outcomes for autistic pupils.

You will provide expert advice, model best practice, coach staff and coordinate with parents, carers and multi-agency professionals to promote inclusive education and ensure ASC pupils access learning.

This fixed-term role runs until 31 March 2029, with full-time hours and London weighting.

Qualifications

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and have a teaching degree or equivalent.
  • Significant experience working in primary mainstream settings with children with ASC.
  • In-depth knowledge of autism, including effective strategies and inclusive approaches.
  • Experience supporting staff development through coaching, mentoring or delivering training.
  • Strong understanding of SEND legislation, inclusion and best practice.

Responsibilities

  • Providing specialist advice, guidance and support to schools on ASC needs.
  • Observing teaching and learning, offering feedback, coaching and modelling to improve practice.
  • Supporting schools to set and review targets and implement effective interventions.
  • Delivering high-quality training and CPD for school staff across the borough.
  • Working in partnership with parents, carers and professionals to support development and inclusion.
  • Contributing to development of resources and approaches for curriculum access and inclusion.
