This role provides a unique opportunity to assess and guide food businesses toward sustainable practices and compliance with international standards. As a senior auditor, you will conduct independent audits, produce actionable reports, and support clients in achieving and maintaining certifications. The position combines technical expertise, regulatory knowledge, and frequent travel across the UK, Europe, and occasional long-haul assignments. Accountabilities
  • Conduct impartial audits of food businesses against accredited and non-accredited sustainability, safety, and quality standards
  • Prepare clear, timely audit reports and contribute to certification recommendations and decisions
  • Support accreditation processes and internal quality system improvements
  • Deliver or assist with training for clients and internal teams on relevant standards and practices
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to colleagues and subcontracted auditors
  • Collaborate with Client Services and Business Development teams, offering technical insights and customer support
  • Represent the organization professionally at client sites, industry events, and committee meetings
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation requirements, internal policies, and project timelines
Requirements
  • Degree or equivalent in Food Science, Food Technology, or related scientific field
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the food industry, including at least 2 years in food safety, quality assurance, or regulatory compliance
  • Recognized HACCP training (minimum 2 days)
  • Qualified Lead Auditor certification (e.g., IRCA) or completion of BRCGS Third-Party Auditor course
  • Experience auditing against GFSI-recognized standards (e.g., BRCGS, FSSC 22000, IFS)
  • Strong analytical, reporting, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, manage complex travel schedules, and maintain high professional standards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and online reporting tools
  • “Train the Trainer” certification or equivalent experience is an advantage
