The Role

As an Audit Senior, you will be responsible for delivering audit assignments from planning to completion, working closely with assistant managers, managers, and senior team members. You will play a key role in liaising with clients, executing audit procedures, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality work. Additionally, you will support and mentor junior team members, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to the smooth running of audit engagements.

This role can be based at our Manchester, Liverpool, Bolton or Wigan office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead on-site audits, executing the agreed plan from start to completion, managing resources effectively, and assigning tasks with clear deadlines.
  • Ensure audit quality, maintaining compliance with company policies and auditing standards while upholding best practices.
  • Supervise and mentor audit juniors, reviewing their work, providing constructive feedback, and supporting their professional development.
  • Prepare on-site audit findings reports, identifying key risks, areas of concern, and significant messages for review by senior team members.
  • Build strong client relationships, adapting communication and approach to ensure a smooth audit process and client satisfaction.
  • Collaborate across service lines, recognising where multiple services are provided to the same client and working with other teams to enhance the client experience.
  • Contribute to team development, offering support, sharing knowledge, and fostering a culture of collaboration.
  • Continuously develop expertise, proactively seeking learning opportunities, identifying overlaps in work, and maximising cross-team collaboration.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Qualified Accountant: ACCA/ACA or equivalent qualification
  • Audit Practice Experience: Proven experience in audit and accounts, with a solid understanding of quality and regulatory standards.
  • Risk Awareness: Familiar with risk assessment and effective control measures within the audit process.
  • Client Interaction: Skilled in managing client relationships and addressing their needs effectively.
  • Team Leadership: Capable of guiding and supporting junior staff, fostering a productive team environment.
  • Technical Knowledge: Up-to-date with relevant accounting and auditing standards, including FRS and IFRS.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify issues and suggest practical solutions.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with CaseWare and CCH is beneficial but not required.
