Job summary

Fletcher George Recruitment Ltd is assisting a respected Surrey practice in recruiting an Audit Senior for its Guildford office. You will lead audits from planning through to completion, working closely with owner-managed businesses and building long-term client relationships.

You will ideally be ACA or ACCA qualified, or studying toward qualification, with strong recent UK audit experience. The role offers hybrid working, mentoring, and clear progression paths within the firm.

Fletcher George are delighted to be working with a highly regarded independent firm of Chartered Accountants with an excellent reputation for delivering exceptional client service to entrepreneurial businesses across Surrey and the South East.

Due to continued growth, the firm is looking to appoint an ambitious Audit Senior who enjoys taking ownership of audit assignments from planning through to completion. The Role

Working closely with the rest of the Audit team you will take responsibility for planning, leading and completing audit assignments while developing strong relationships with your clients.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Planning and leading audit assignments from planning through to completion.
• Leading audit fieldwork both on-site and remotely.
• Preparing and reviewing audit files to a consistently high standard.
• Liaising directly with clients throughout the audit process, becoming their trusted day-to-day contact.
• Identifying audit and commercial issues and discussing practical solutions with Managers and Partners.
• Supervising, coaching and reviewing the work of Audit Juniors and Trainees.
• Delivering assignments within agreed budgets and timescales.
• Working with a diverse portfolio of owner-managed businesses across a wide range of sectors.
• Building long-term client relationships through proactive communication and outstanding client service.

This role has a genuine audit focus, with only limited accounts work where appropriate to support client delivery.

About You

You will ideally be ACA or ACCA qualified, or studying towards qualification with strong recent audit experience gained within a UK accountancy practice.

You will also have:

• Experience planning and completing audit assignments with increasing levels of responsibility.
• The confidence to lead audits through to completion with appropriate Partner or Manager support.
• Experience working with owner-managed businesses and privately owned companies.
• Strong knowledge of UK auditing and accounting standards.
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills.
• A positive and proactive approach to mentoring junior colleagues.
• A genuine ambition to develop your career within a successful independent practice.

This opportunity is particularly suited to candidates who enjoy working with owner-managed businesses and building long-term client relationships. It is less suited to candidates whose experience has been focused primarily on listed or multinational audit environments.

Salary Guide

The salary range of £40,000 - £52,000 has been set by Fletcher George as a guide. The final salary offered will reflect your qualifications, experience and the value you can bring to the firm.

Location

The office is conveniently located in Guildford and is easily commutable from Woking, Godalming, Farnham, Leatherhead, Cobham, Esher, Weybridge, Camberley, Farnborough and the surrounding Surrey and Hampshire areas.
