Job summary

NXTGEN is recruiting for an Audit Senior to join a respected accountancy firm. You will take ownership of a varied portfolio of audit clients, leading audits from planning through to completion while developing junior team members and building long-term client relationships.

The role offers exposure to multiple industries, clear progression toward Assistant Manager, and a collaborative, mentoring-focused environment with a strong emphasis on client delivery and development.

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA, CA qualified or qualified by experience.
• Strong audit experience within UK accountancy practice.
• Confident communicator with client-facing experience.
• Experience coaching or mentoring junior staff.
• Organised and proactive with ability to manage multiple assignments.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop a portfolio of audit clients across industries.
• Lead audits from planning through to completion with Partner review.
• Oversee audit fieldwork, substantive testing and analytical procedures.
• Prepare and review statutory financial statements in line with IFRS/UK GAAP.
• Identify key risk areas and report findings to Managers and Partners.
• Ensure audit files are complete with supporting documentation.
• Build strong client relationships as the main point of contact during audits.
• Support workflow planning, budgets, delivery against deadlines and profitability.

The role:

• Managing and developing a portfolio of audit clients across a variety of industries
• Leading audit assignments from planning through to completion and Partner review
• Carrying out and overseeing audit fieldwork, substantive testing, and analytical review procedures
• Preparing and reviewing statutory financial statements in line with IFRS and UK GAAP
• Identifying key risk areas and reporting findings to Managers and Partners
• Ensuring audit files are completed accurately and with sufficient supporting documentation
• Building strong and lasting client relationships, acting as a key point of contact throughout the audit process
• Supporting workflow planning, budgets, and delivery against deadlines and profitability targets
• Coaching, mentoring, and developing junior members of the team
• Supporting Partners and senior leadership with ad hoc assignments and wider business initiatives

What they are looking for:

• ACA, ACCA, CA qualified or qualified by experience
• Strong audit experience gained within a UK accountancy practice
• Working knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP
• Experience auditing clients across a range of industries
• Confident communicator with strong client facing experience
• Previous experience coaching or mentoring junior staff
• Organised and proactive approach with the ability to manage multiple assignments effectively
