Job summary

ProTalent Limited is recruiting for an Audit RI at a central London independent accountancy firm. The role involves owning the audit function, from planning through to sign-off, and setting the standard for audit quality.

You will lead a team, mentor junior staff, stay close to existing clients and help win new work, with direct partner contact from day one and a clear route to partnership for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Qualified ACA or ACCA with UK practice audit experience.
• RI status held or strong case for obtaining it.
• Confident in ISA (UK) requirements and defending a file.

Responsibilities

• Act as Responsible Individual across a portfolio of audits, from planning through to sign-off.
• Set the standard for audit quality and enforce it across the team.
• Perform file reviews and provide technical guidance to managers and seniors.
• Maintain close relationships with existing clients and contribute to new business.
• Collaborate with partners on shaping the audit offering and department direction.

Job description

Most RI roles that reach the market are really about signing off someone else's files. This one is closer to owning the audit function.

An independent Central London accountancy firm is looking to appoint an Audit RI. They have a settled client base and a steady audit portfolio, and they want someone who will take responsibility for the quality of the work, develop the people doing it, and have a genuine say in where the department goes next.

It would suit an experienced Audit Director, Senior Manager or existing RI who has more capability than their current firm has room for.

The role

• Acting as Responsible Individual across a portfolio of audits, from planning through to sign off
• Setting the standard for audit quality and holding the team to it
• File review, and being the person managers and seniors come to with the technical questions
• Staying close to existing clients and getting involved in new work
• Working with the partners on how the audit offering develops

What they're looking for

• ACA or ACCA qualified, with UK practice audit experience
• RI status already held, or a strong case for obtaining it
• Confident on current ISA (UK) requirements and comfortable defending a file
• Someone who wants to lead a team, not just carry a portfolio
